We're Almost There and Nowhere Near It. All That Matters Is That We're Going
Here lies my feeble attempt at blogging for the next one hundred and eighty-two days. Never have I ever embarked on such an endeavor, as writing is not a strong suit of mine, however I’ve decided this is the year to start. This is the year I have been most intentional about setting small goals for myself and consistently sticking to them. Ever since my first encounter with the story of Julie Powell and her successful challenge of taking on the infamous, Julia Child’s cookbook: Mastering the Art of French Cooking (I'd recommend reading the book Julie & Julia or watching the movie to better understand), I’ve had an eagerness to accomplish the same, although with a modern twist. Some of you may be familiar with the show Gilmore Girls, but if not, it is a cute mother-daughter show with clever, fast-paced dialogue that greatly involves their love of food. Therefore, I’ve decided the recipes I shall create will come from none other than their official cookbook, which contains seventy-six recipes featured throughout the series. I will not be writing every day, as that would overwhelm me with all my other life enjoyments and responsibilities, but rather tackling these recipes and documenting the progress with photos three times a week over the course of six months. So, it's not a huge challenge, although some of the recipes are quite involved, but more just a fun thing for me to do in my free time and another goal to consistently stick to. Inspired by the Julie/Julia Project blog started almost twenty three years ago, I present my adaptation which I entitle: Mastering the Art of Eating Like a Gilmore (because if you are familiar with the show, you know that to eat like them is an art form). So, without further ado and to all you readers out there as Luke Danes would say, “this thing we’re doing here -- me, you -- I just want you to know, I’m in. I am all in.”
